General Production Worker

This role supports a manufacturing facility that produces wire mesh for applications such as fencing, decking, and other metal products. You will operate a variety of machines that fabricate metal, including stamping machines and other production equipment, while helping to maintain a safe, efficient, and high-quality production process in a non-climate controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate wire mesh production equipment and related machinery to fabricate metal products according to specifications.
• Run stamping machines and other metal fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
• Set up machines for production runs, including adjusting settings, loading materials, and verifying proper alignment.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment to support production and basic adjustments.
• Read and interpret blueprints and measurements, including using a tape measure, to ensure products meet required dimensions and quality standards.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on machines to identify issues and assist with corrective actions.
• Support preventive maintenance activities by monitoring equipment performance and reporting problems promptly.
• Assist with machine repair tasks as directed, including working with lathes, mills, shears, and other fabrication tools as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and production efficiency.
• Follow all safety procedures and production guidelines while working on the production line.
• Work effectively as part of a production team to meet daily output and quality targets.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with machines and mechanical systems.
• Ability to operate production machinery safely and follow standard operating procedures.
• Basic proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for production measurements.
• Capability to work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment for extended periods.
• Willingness to work assigned shifts, including potential early morning or late-night hours.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate with a production team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous machine operation experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience with CNC machines, press brakes, and general machine operation.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading to interpret product specifications.
• Exposure to fabrication equipment such as shears, lathes, mills, and other machining tools.
• Experience with basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
• Experience in metal fabrication or machining environments.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility that operates in a non-climate controlled environment, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. You will work on a production floor with wire mesh manufacturing equipment, stamping machines, and other metal fabrication machinery. The schedule includes structured shifts, such as a first shift from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday, and additional shifts as needed. The environment is hands-on and mechanically focused, involving regular use of hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and various production machines. Safety practices and appropriate industrial attire are expected to support a safe and efficient workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
