Manager In Training (Part Time)

Overview The Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. They are knowledgeable in each product area or department and help achieve the store’s goals and initiatives. They uphold policies, procedures, and standards outlined in the visual manual, promote each sale and promotional activity, and serve as an ambassador for Hibbett I City Gear, creating a unique customer experience to acquire and retain long‑term customers. They are passionate about providing outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise, and assume supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence. Responsibilities Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear. Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling. Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary. Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability. Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed. Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends. Assure quality customer service is maintained. Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Produce extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, including helping customers as they enter the store and assisting multiple customers during peak periods. Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear. Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and memos. Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Interview, train, plan, assign, and direct work of employees and resolve problems. Qualifications Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel. 1–3 years of customer service experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits. Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked. Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
