This role involves constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing concrete forms and related structures using carpentry tools and techniques. You will build and assemble wooden and panelized forms that are filled with concrete to create structural elements for a large construction project. The position requires dependable attendance, reliable transportation, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard to create concrete forms for building structures.
• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using rulers, pencils, chalk, and marking gauges to ensure precise layouts.
• Shape or cut materials to exact measurements and assemble boards, timber, or plywood to the required size while building wooden forms in the shape of the structure.
• Secure forms using nails, bolts, screws, or anchor rods and operate hand tools, machines, and power saws safely and effectively.
• Study and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions, shapes, designs, and materials required.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment on the construction site.
• Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of wooden structures and repair or replace them using appropriate hand tools.
• Participate in concrete work, including supporting concrete pours and ensuring forms are properly prepared for placement.
• Build and set Symon Forms for concrete retaining walls, support the concrete pour process, and remove forms once the concrete has hardened.
• Plan and sequence work efficiently to support continuous progress on the retaining wall, including repeated form setup and removal across multiple pours.
• Check that completed work is level, plumb, and square, and verify that all forms and structures meet quality and specification requirements.
• Collaborate with site leadership and crew members to complete approximately 2,500 feet of retaining wall in multiple 200-foot pours.

Essential Skills

• 1–5 years of experience in concrete carpentry, concrete formwork, or related concrete construction work.
• Proficiency in constructing and working with concrete forms, including experience with Symon Forms.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and materials.
• Knowledge of commercial construction practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills to perform accurate material estimates and layout calculations.
• Ability to use carpentry tools such as hand saws, electric saws, drills, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Attention to detail with the ability to verify that work is level, plumb, and square and meets project specifications.
• Capability to follow established safety rules and maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Reliable transportation and a dependable work ethic to support consistent attendance on a day-shift schedule.
• High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with concrete pours, concrete finishing, and general concrete work on commercial construction sites.
• Familiarity with Symon Forms systems for building retaining walls and similar concrete structures.
• Organizational skills to plan the sequence of work and coordinate tasks efficiently on an active construction project.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a field crew on large-scale projects such as apartment complexes.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and correct defects or issues in formwork or wooden structures.

Work Environment

You will work on an active commercial construction site in Franklin, TN, where a large apartment complex is under development. The primary focus is on building a substantial concrete retaining wall, totaling approximately 2,500 feet, completed in multiple 200-foot pours. The project includes building Symon Forms, supporting concrete pours, allowing the wall to harden, stripping forms, and resetting them for subsequent sections. Work is performed on a day shift, Monday through Friday, in an outdoor construction environment that requires adherence to strict safety practices and the use of standard construction tools and equipment. The site environment is dynamic, with ongoing heavy construction activity, and requires appropriate construction attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a field-based role.

This is a Contract position based out of Franklin, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
