Quick Facts Location: Springfield Regional Medical Center, 100 Medical Center Drive, Springfield, OH 45504 Start Date: 09/08/2026 End Date: 09/18/2026 (potential for extension/adjustment) Shift: Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM, with floor call/beeper from 3:00 PM 7:00 AM; weekend support as needed (24-hour onsite support, OR call) Hours/Week: 40 hours Employment Type: Locum/Temporary License/Certifications: Ohio license or willingness to obtain, valid ACLS, BLS, and appropriate certifications required Experience: Prior experience in cardiothoracic or vascular surgery preferred Pay & Benefits Hourly Pay Rate: Paid weekly via direct deposit (rate discussed upon application) Benefits include: Comprehensive medical coverage (W-2) Paid sick time compliant with state and federal laws Robust referral bonus program Licensure, certification, travel, and other reimbursements where applicable 24/7 dedicated team support from VHS What You ll Do Manage post-operative care for adult and geriatric cardiothoracic and vascular patients Perform emergency surgeries, assist in surgical procedures, and take vein during heart surgeries Review and interpret tests; order additional tests and diagnostics Provide consults and referrals from the ED, Cath Lab, and hospital providers Assist in vascular tissue retrieval and vein harvesting for bypass procedures Write prescriptions and coordinate patient care plans Conduct rounding and collaborate closely with hospital staff and specialists What You Need Valid Ohio Physician Assistant license or eligibility to obtain license Previous experience in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery preferred Ability to perform vein harvesting and assist in complex surgeries Strong clinical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities About the Assignment This assignment involves providing essential surgical assistance and post-op care at a busy hospital unit specializing in cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.
