CNC Machinist

CNC Machinist - Direct Hire

The role involves creating molds and production parts for the composites department. You will operate machines to set up and mass-produce a volume of parts, facilitating the completion of composite molds.

Responsibilities:

• Set up CNC Lathes and Mills, as well as manual Lathe and Mills machines.
• Make small edits to CNC programs directly at the machine without using CIMCO or any CAD/CAM application.
• Proof CNC programs at the machine for errors.
• Adjust tools using cutter comps.
• Apply knowledge of feeds and speeds for endmills and drills across various materials, including tool steels, aluminum, and composites.
• Measure parts using precision measurement hand tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
• Make decisions on when to change cutting tools and define tool life limits.
• Utilize appropriate PPE gear while working in the shop.
• Familiarize with the G and M codes used in CNC machines.
• Use tool setters to set height and minimize runout.

Essential Skills:

• 3-5+ years of experience running 3, 4, and 5 axis mills.
• Direct experience machining high-speed aluminum, mold tooling metals, forgings, and castings.
• Previous experience working with titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T principles.
• Knowledge of calipers and CAD/CAM applications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with light numerical control edits on 3, 4, and 5 axis mills and CNC lathes.
• Familiarity with B and/or C axis rotary tables and/or indexing part fixture CNC machining.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics and basic machining skills.

Work Environment:

The role follows a 9x80 schedule, with future work anticipated to be on the 1st shift starting at 5am and ending at 2:30pm, with Fridays ending at 1:30pm. There may be occasional work on Saturdays. The position is based in an ITAR facility manufacturing composite parts for aerospace companies.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $83200.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
