Job Description
Associate Director of Operations for Neurosciences oversees daily operations for multiple teams at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside. The role ensures strong administrative and financial performance, high employee engagement, and smooth patient flow across all sites. This leader serves as operational partner with faculty, leadership, and collaborative departments, setting short‑ and long‑term goals aligned with the Mount Sinai Health System and ensuring all activities follow institutional policies and regulatory requirements. The position combines operational excellence, clinical understanding, data‑driven decision making, and collaborative leadership to support the One Mount Sinai vision.
Education Requirements
Masters degree in a relevant field, or a combination of appropriate administrative/managerial experience and education/training. Experience Requirements
Preferred 7+ years of relevant, progressive administrative experience (2+ years of supervisory experience preferred). Responsibilities Enhance multidisciplinary collaboration by working closely with the Senior Director of Clinical Neurosciences, Medical Directors/Chairs in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, and Research, and One Mount Sinai teams such as Revenue Cycle to ensure alignment of clinical, operational, and strategic priorities. Develop, refine, and standardize workflows that support optimal patient flow across all sites, ensuring a consistent experience that meets One Mount Sinai expectations and supports growth in specialty service lines. Oversee multiple sites where our providers and staff are present (e.g., Spine Center, Clinical Neuroscience Center, Multispecialty Neurology, Outpatient Hospital clinics) with strategic vision of growth. Leverage data‑driven insights to monitor key metrics—including access, scheduling, denials, check‑in/out, volume, and revenue cycle performance—and use these findings to improve processes, outcomes, and financial stability. Ensure regulatory, institutional, and departmental compliance by overseeing daily operations, maintaining SOPs, updating policies as needed, and ensuring all service lines meet federal, state, city, and health system/One Mount Sinai standards. Lead, mentor, and develop diverse teams by overseeing recruitment, onboarding, staffing models, payroll, scheduling, performance evaluations, and ongoing coaching to promote strong engagement, accountability, and professional growth across clinical and administrative support staff. Partner with senior leadership to drive strategic planning, establishing short‑ and long‑term goals, identifying opportunities for operational improvement, and supporting project development that enhances program performance and departmental infrastructure. Strengthen communication and operational alignment between faculty, administration, and support staff to ensure seamless coordination, consistent messaging, and a high level of service to both patients and employees. Oversee financial management responsibilities, including budget development, reconciliation, monitoring revenue and expenses through systems such as EPSI and Epic reporting, and collaborating with billing, back‑office, and compliance teams to optimize the revenue cycle. Support operational logistics and space planning, including exam room utilization, ancillary services management, and resource distribution to ensure that all sites function efficiently and are equipped to meet patient and departmental needs. Lead and support departmental initiatives, such as CME events, public education courses, symposiums, and other annual programs, while managing all other operational responsibilities and projects as assigned to advance departmental goals. Gain knowledge of all systems that Mount Sinai uses to have a clear relevance for funds flow, budget goals, revenue, expenses, etc. Create opportunities for internal education through TDL and PEAK development.
