The California Conservation Corps, Human Resources Division, Payroll and Benefits Office is seeking an enthusiastic individual with outstanding customer service skills to serve as a Personnel Specialist. As a Personnel Specialist, it will be your job to make the appropriate personnel transactions to ensure our workforce is receiving timely pay and benefits. In the process, you will learn a significant amount about various human resources functions, including benefit programs, payroll processing, and compensation. If you are a motivated individual with a passion to learn and develop valuable skills like these, this is the position for you! The incumbent is responsible for the work associated with personnel transactions including appointments, separations, payroll, time and attendance reporting, benefits, and non-industrial disability. All duties require the incumbent to provide excellent customer service to departmental employees. These duties are performed in accordance with all procedures set forth by various control agencies, all laws and rules governed by the State of California and employee bargaining unit contract agreements.

Working Conditions

This position is classified as “Hybrid” and is currently eligible for up to one day of telework per week, with a minimum of four days of in-office work.

The reporting location for this position is at CCC HQ located at 1719 24th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816.

CCC Headquarters has recently gone through renovation including all new cubicles, new LED lighting, new flooring, and new bike rack, we have operational showers in both men's and women's restrooms, along with gender neutral restrooms in the building. Our kitchenettes are equipped with hot water dispensers, refrigerators, and automatic ice makers!

Special Requirements

In addition to the regular salary, this classification is eligible for an annual recruitment and retention bonus as follows:

$2,400 after 12 or more qualifying months
$3,000 after 24 or more qualifying months
$3,600 after 36 or more qualifying months
$4,800 after 48 or more qualifying months

In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
