SuperintendentThe Superintendent, under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager is responsible for leading roofing foremen and/or subcontractors to perform work safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and professionalism. This position plays a key role in field leadership, project execution, and customer satisfaction, ensuring that all work complies with company policies, safety standards, and contract requirements.Specific Job DutiesLeadership and Supervision:Provide daily leadership and direction to roofing foremen and subcontractors.Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, discipline, and professionalism.Supervise and mentor crews to ensure high-quality installations and professional conduct.Address performance issues, complaints, and disciplinary matters promptly and effectively.Evaluate crew performance regularly, identifying training needs and facilitating instruction or third-party resources when necessary.Conduct or participate in safety audits and equipment inspections (e.g., stair towers, forklifts).Enforce subcontractor compliance with all safety expectations and Nations Roof standards, including weekly toolbox talks and required documentation.Project Oversight & Execution:Review and understand project scope, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.Lead pre-job planning, including site-specific safety and work efficiency plans.Coordinate, supervise, and manage subcontractors and field staff to ensure proper execution and sequencing of work.Perform or delegate site take-offs, ensuring accurate and timely communication with Estimating. If take-off information can't be sent to Estimating by the next day, email them the same day with the reason for the delay.Track labor and crew performance against goals; collect photographic documentation when needed (e.g., verifying subcontractor time records).Ensure job-site productivity, troubleshoot gaps in planning, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.Order and track materials, minimize waste, and manage delivery schedules to support project timelines.If missing or unclear project information is discovered, notify the Operations Manager and Senior Project Manager immediately.Safety & Compliance:Lead jobsite safety practices and ensure full compliance with OSHA, company, and customer safety protocols.Develop and maintain safety documentation, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and site-specific safety plans.Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and thefts; submit relevant documentation and photos promptly.Monitor subcontractor safety compliance and correct unsafe practices or conditions immediately.Quality Control:Enforce installation standards and verify workmanship throughout the project.Conduct destructive testing, such as cutting into hand welds, to verify proper techniques are used.Document quality control efforts with photographs and utilize tools like probing plans to ensure oversightCustomer & Vendor Relations:Represent the company professionally in all communications with clients, contractors, and consultants.Maintain consistent contact with customers to update progress, address concerns, and confirm satisfaction throughout the project from beginning to completion.Coordinate delivery of warranties, change orders, and inspection reports.Ensure timely collaboration with vendors, consultants, and suppliers to maintain progress and strong relationships.Administrative & Documentation:Submit timely and complete Daily Project Reports (DPRs), expense reports, and jobsite documentation.If daily reporting is not possible, notify the Manager in advance with an explanation.Reports required daily (e.g., DPRs, expense reports, and safety-related documents) must be completed daily, not in batches.Review the final project paperwork to ensure accurate billing and that all change orders are reflected.Maintain and update Salesforce and other business tools as needed in a timely manner with complete and accurate project data.Communication & Collaboration:Coordinate with internal departments, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure clear, timely communication.Assist Project Managers with documentation, contracts, purchase orders, and tracking tools.Attend or delegate attendance at all required project meetings.Ensure project documentation is organized and submitted promptly to appropriate departments.Additional Responsibilities:Participate in permit processes and development coordination when required.Represent the company during final inspections and warranty closeouts.Support company leadership with reporting and internal documentation needs.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills/Knowledge:Knowledge of commercial roofing systems, including TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, BUR, metal, coatings, and insulation systemsStrong understanding of manufacturer specifications, warranty requirements, and installation standardsAbility to supervise and coordinate one or more commercial roofing crew(s) and/or subcontractors across active job sitesCapable to read and interpret roof plans, details, specifications, and scopes of workUnderstanding and knowledge of jobsite safety, OSHA regulations, fall protection, and rooftop safety enforcementAbility to plan and manage labor, equipment, materials, and production schedulesExperience attending pre-job planning meetings, daily tailgate talks, and safety auditsSkilled in quality control inspections, punch list management, and closeout documentationAbility to identify and resolve field issues such as deck conditions, moisture intrusion, weather impacts, and design conflictsCommunication skills for coordination with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and clientsProficient in daily reporting, photo documentation, and roofing project management softwareLeadership skills focused on crew development, accountability, and productivityEducation/Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or technical education preferred3–10 years of commercial roofing experience, preferred 3 years in a superintendent or lead foreman roleHands-on experience installing and supervising commercial roofing systems from tear-off through final inspectionDemonstrated experience managing large-scale commercial projects, occupied buildings, and complex scheduling requirementsWorking knowledge of roof deck types (steel, concrete, wood, gypsum) and attachment methodsExperience coordinating manufacturer inspections and securing system warrantiesOSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferredAbility to travel between job sites and work flexible hours as required by project demandsValid driver's license requiredSupervisory Responsibilities: YesWork Environment: Hybrid general office environment and regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and occasionally exposed to hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office and business office environment, with standard office equipment available. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Travel Requirements: Yes - Dictated by the proximity of the projects and demand of the customer.Physical Requirements: Work does not require a great deal of physical strength but will require endurance for climbing multiple sets of stairs or ladders, exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Walking and standing may be required, up to 50% of the time.Compensation: $90,000-$130,000 yrTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
