REHABILITATION THERAPIST, STATE FACILITIES (MUSIC-SAFETY)

Salary: $8,010 – $9,433 per month ($96,120 - $113,196 per year) Location: Coalinga, California Responsibilities Use music media and activities to provide a non‑threatening, self‑motivating experience that assists patients in relating to the environment, themselves, and the community. Provide an atmosphere conducive to behavioral change, self‑expression, and effective non‑verbal and verbal communication. Directly deliver rehabilitation therapy services on the home unit and/or in the Treatment Mall. Organize, plan, and provide recovery‑oriented courses, groups, and activities aligned with patient objectives. Provide orientation to all patients regarding rehabilitation groups and leisure activities. Inform patients of special events and activities available in the hospital. Meet with patients who have identified needs to provide rehabilitation therapy services. Organize, promote, implement, or coordinate events—including holiday recognition or special events—to enhance patient quality of life. Coordinate unit party fund expenditures and plan unit parties and leisure activities with the unit activity coordinator. Assist in maintaining a safe environment through accountability and supervision of controlled items used in Rehabilitation Therapy activities, responding to therapeutic strategy interventions, security breaches, and managing patient behavior. Assess each assigned patient’s interest in rehabilitation therapy interventions and document assessments in the medical record. Create treatment objectives based on assessment information. Gather patient progress information through shift changes, interdisciplinary teams, group observation, patient interview, and chart review. Participate in Treatment Plan Conference (TxPC) for each assigned patient, documenting progress. Participate in professional development activities, completing hospital core training and attending colloquia, workshops, conferences, and continuing education. Attend and participate in monthly Rehabilitation Therapy Department service meetings. Complete and file notes identifying patient progress weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Music Therapy, Music Education, or a related field. Completion of an approved clinical internship in the appropriate rehabilitation specialty at an approved hospital or rehabilitation center affiliated with the college; or, if registered with the appropriate therapy association, two years of full‑time paid experience in a clinical, residential, or community‑based setting after receiving the required degree. Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with major work in music therapy, or registration with the American Music Therapy Association, or eligibility for such registration.
