Travel Radiation Therapist

American Traveler seeks a Radiation Therapist with ARRT and Oregon licensure and at least 1 year of experience for a hospital-based Radiation Oncology department.

Job Details

• Hospital-based Radiation Oncology department,
• Fast-paced environment treating 70-95 patients per day across three treatment machines,
• Uses Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, Acuity, and GE Lightspeed CT equipment,
• Uses Aria for charting and treatment planning,
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts between 6:00am-7:30pm, Monday through Friday,
• No call requirements,
• May float within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital located approximately 15 minutes away,

Job Requirements

• ARRT National Radiology license required,
• Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) state licensure required if applicable,
• Current BLS certification,
• Minimum of 1 year Radiation Therapy experience,
• Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program required,
• Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, and Aria systems required,
• Knowledge of Linear Accelerator operations including SBRT, SRS, and breath-hold visual management preferred,
• Ability to safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics and transfer techniques,
• Skills in beam modifying/positioning, block cutting, CBCT/kV/mV imaging, wedges, and treatment plans,
• Ability to calculate radiation dose and compute dose distribution,
• Knowledge of radiation safety, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols,

Additional Information

• Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist,
• Interpret prescriptions and treatment plans, and complete patient identification per department procedure,
• Maintain audio/visual surveillance of patients and accurately position them for treatment,
• Image and annotate portal images as directed by the Radiation Oncologist,
• Observe and report patient side-effects or unusual reactions to appropriate staff,
• Document treatment positions and skin markings using digital camera,
• Construct immobilization devices and fabricate custom blocks to support accurate treatment,
• Participate in daily chart rounds and complete Aria chart checks per department policy,
• Perform weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks with proper documentation,
• Coordinate simulation scheduling with clinic to support continuity of care,
• First-time travelers may be considered if experience requirements are met,
• Former permanent employees are ineligible to apply for travel positions within 6 months of employment termination
