Maintenance Manager

Overview: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities within the plant to ensure that equipment, machinery, and facilities are in optimal working condition. The role includes managing a team of maintenance supervisors and technicians, developing and implementing maintenance procedures, and coordinating with other departments to support production efficiency and safety. Responsibilities Maintenance Planning and Management: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Oversee routine maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations to ensure compliance with set standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance. Team Leadership: Manage, train, and mentor a team of supervisors and technicians. Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide feedback. Foster a positive collaborative work environment. Equipment and Facility Management: Ensure production equipment operates efficiently and safely. Coordinate with production to schedule maintenance without disrupting schedules. Maintain building infrastructure including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols. Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal regulations related to food manufacturing. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits. Budget Management: Develop and manage the maintenance budget. Identify cost‑saving opportunities. Negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors. Continuous Improvement: Analyze maintenance performance metrics. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance efficiency. Participate in cross‑functional teams. Flexibility: Work non‑standard hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education / Certifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management or related field. Minimum 5 years of maintenance management experience in the food manufacturing industry. Valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and maintenance management software. Strong leadership and team‑management skills. Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage direct reports such as supervisors, coordinators, planners, and technicians. Conduct performance evaluations, hiring decisions, and staffing realignment. Working Conditions Typical work in office and manufacturing facility with exposure to dust, fumes, noise, vibration and other hazards. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $89,026.00 – $163,399.00. Compensation may vary based on experience and location.
