We are seeking an organized, fast-paced Assistant Fashion Designer / Product Developer to join our team in Vernon. In this hybrid role, you will work directly within the design department, providing crucial creative support to the Head Designer while managing the operational backbone of our apparel lines (data tracking, costing, and supply chain logistics).
Please note: This position focuses on creative support, digital CAD layouts, and production tracking. It is a non-technical development role that does not involve running live fit sessions or collaborating with patternmakers to adjust garment architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Creative Assistance: Work side-by-side with the Head Designer to bring concepts to life; build, update, and revise digital CAD artwork, colorways, and flats in Adobe Illustrator.
- Financial & Costing Sheets: Prepare detailed costing sheets for local and overseas production, analyzing raw materials to help the design team meet target profit margins.
- Maintain product specification sheets , line sheets, and comprehensive technical documents (OE, PLM, etc.).
- Track production timelines daily to guarantee sample and production deadlines are met on time.
- Manage sample development logistics , tracking sample arrivals, approvals, and physical organization.
- Source and organize production fabrics, trims, prints, and artwork files.
- Communicate daily with sales, design, the in-house sewing room, and overseas importers to quickly resolve daily timeline or material bottlenecks.
- Maintain precise archival records of style numbers, technical revisions, and production details.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional experience in apparel product development or design assisting.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, and PLM software systems.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of line sheet data management and garment components (fabrics/trims).
- Traits: Exceptional time management, organizational skills, and strict attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong professional communication skills required for daily factory and importer interaction.
