Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset: cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips, wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, central line management. Description: This position is for an RN in MedSurg/Tele. The facility is a certified chest pain center and a stroke center. The unit has 32 beds with an average census of 28. Patient types include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, and hip fractures. Patient ratios on days are 1:4-6 and on nights are 1:5-6, with surge staffing potentially increasing ratios to 1:7-8. There is support within the department from CNAs for vital signs, baths, mobility, turning, and blood sugars. The charge nurse serves as a resource to assist with all nursing care. Other support includes phlebotomy services and a respiratory team available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring and technical support are provided consistently. Nurses may be required to float within the region to meet staffing needs. Travel time between facilities will be compensated if floating mid-shift. Scheduling includes weekend rotation and potential call for low census. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays with a maximum of 6 days off approved, excluding holidays. Shift times are from 0645 to 1900 and 1845 to 0700 with a scheduling cycle of every 6 weeks. Scrub colors are navy.
