Senior Staff Accountant

Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations with a strong focus on fixed assets, inventory accounting, and job costing . This role will partner closely with operations and finance leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain inventory integrity, and support month-end close activities.

The ideal candidate will bring a solid accounting foundation, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Support financial statement preparation and variance analysis.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
• Assist with external audits and ad hoc financial reporting requests.

Fixed Asset Accounting

• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Record asset additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.
• Reconcile fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger.
• Support annual physical asset inventories and capital expenditure tracking.

Inventory Accounting

• Monitor inventory transactions and ensure accurate inventory valuation.
• Analyze inventory balances, reserves, and adjustments.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Partner with operations to improve inventory controls and reporting accuracy.
• Support cycle counts and physical inventory processes.

Job Costing & Manufacturing Accounting

• Track and analyze costs associated with projects, production runs, and jobs.
• Review labor, material, and overhead allocations for accuracy.
• Analyze manufacturing variances and support management reporting.
• Assist with standard cost updates and cost accounting initiatives.
• Partner with production and operations teams to improve cost visibility and profitability analysis.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment .
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Fixed Asset Accounting
  • Inventory Accounting
  • Job Costing or Cost Accounting
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, including:
  • Pivot Tables
  • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
  • Data analysis and reconciliation functions
• Ability to manage deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
