About the role Anthropic is seeking a Manager, Commercial Counsel, GTM to lead our legal team in shaping how cutting‑edge AI technology reaches users, researchers, and enterprises worldwide. The role supports enterprise technology and start‑ups Go‑to‑Market teams, handling enterprise agreements and customer negotiations, while driving team growth and scaling initiatives. Responsibilities Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, focusing on GTM/Sales agreements with enterprise technology customers and start‑ups. Partner with Sales and Go‑to‑Market leadership to support deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance. Build and maintain commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements. Manage a team supporting enterprise technology and start‑up segments. Identify and elevate legal risks appropriately while sustaining business momentum. Stay current on legal developments affecting AI technologies. Qualifications JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar. Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions. Demonstrated people‑management experience, including hiring, developing, and leading attorneys or legal professionals. Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate legal concepts for non‑lawyer stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications 8+ years of legal experience, predominantly in commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions. Active membership in the California state bar. Experience leading legal teams through high‑growth phases at technology companies. Experience navigating multi‑stakeholder agreements involving technical and policy considerations. Curiosity and commitment to responsible AI development. Collaborative, low‑ego approach to working with colleagues and external partners. A “doer” attitude—willingness to roll up sleeves and pitch in where needed. Comfort in fast‑paced environments with shifting priorities. Role‑specific policy All staff are expected to work from our San Francisco office at least three days a week, with some flexibility for interim periods. Compensation The annual compensation range for this role is provided below. Logistics Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Required field of study: Relevant coursework, training, or professional experience. Minimum years of experience: As per internal job level requirements.
