Heavy Civil Superintendent / Senior Superintendent

Raleigh, NC Area

A growing Heavy Civil General Contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent or Senior Superintendent to lead field operations on challenging infrastructure projects throughout the greater Raleigh region. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on construction leader who enjoys managing large-scale civil projects while working with a company that values safety, quality, and career growth.

The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing heavy civil construction projects such as roadway, bridge, utility, site development, earthwork, drainage, concrete structures, and other public infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field operations from project startup through completion.
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and craft labor.
• Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure milestones are achieved.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Owners, Engineers, and Inspectors.
• Conduct site meetings, safety inspections, and quality control reviews.
• Track workforce productivity, equipment utilization, and project progress.
• Resolve field challenges while maintaining schedule and budget objectives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on heavy civil construction projects (10+ years preferred for Senior Superintendent level).
• Strong background in one or more of the following:
  • Roadway and highway construction
  • Bridges and structures
  • Earthwork and grading
  • Utility installation
  • Concrete and drainage systems
  • DOT or municipal infrastructure projects
• Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors and field crews.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience with scheduling and construction management software is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Travel Requirements

Candidates must be willing to travel to project sites within approximately a two-hour radius of Raleigh, NC . While most work will be regional, occasional overnight stays may be required based on project location and scheduling needs. For projects requiring overnight travel, the company provides company-paid lodging and daily per diem .
