Position Summary

This position is accountable for serving as both a caregiver and care manager. In the caregiver role, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for a designated group of patients during specified time frames by implementing the Nursing Process. In the care manager role, the RN directs and supervises the work of other caregivers (nurses and non-nurses) through delegation, coordination, supervision, and validation of patient care outcomes. The RN must possess a thorough understanding of the operations of Patient Care Services and demonstrate sound judgment in decision-making when necessary.

Essential Functions

• Conducts comprehensive assessments focusing on physiological, psychosocial, and cognitive factors.
• Implements care based on established procedures, policies, and care plans.
• Identifies and addresses patient and family educational needs.
• Documents patient information accurately per policy and regulatory requirements.
• Maintains sensitivity to the rights of patients and their families across all classifications.
• Delegates patient care activities appropriately and supervises assigned staff.

• May act as a Charge Nurse, managing patient assignments and unit staff coordination.

Work Environment

The RN reports to the Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, and other designated supervisory staff. This position involves close collaboration with patients, physicians, and clinical staff to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.

Educational Requirements

• Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
• License: Current Washington State RN Licensure.
• Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 30 days of hire, AHA or equivalent.
• Experience: Preferably, at least one year of experience as an acute care RN.
