Senior Accountant

AMPAM Parks Mechanical specializes in multifamily residential construction. The company’s core strength is its design-build model that allows clients to minimize risk, shorten construction schedules, and accelerate building occupancy. What We’re Looking For The AMPAM Carson office is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. The successful candidate will demonstrate accurate and timely preparation of month-end close and compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies and procedures. What You’ll be Doing: Own general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and the successful execution of month-end and year-end close processes Drive the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of balance sheet schedules to ensure accuracy, integrity, and audit readiness Ensure full compliance with GAAP and enforce strong percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting practices, controls, and financial discipline Oversee job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition to ensure accurate project financials and compliance with accounting standards Deliver timely and actionable financial reporting, variance analysis, and management insights that support operational and strategic decision-making Lead and maintain accurate processing and reconciliation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash transactions Own audit and tax preparation activities by coordinating, organizing, and delivering required financial documentation and support Evaluate accounting workflows and internal controls, proactively identifying risks, control gaps, and process inefficiencies while driving corrective actions Champion effective utilization and optimization of ERP, job costing, and inventory systems to improve financial visibility and operational performance Drive continuous process improvements that enhance accuracy, scalability, efficiency, and transparency across accounting and financial operations Partner closely with Project Managers and Operations leaders to strengthen financial accountability, improve cost control, and ensure job cost accuracy across active projects Serve as a trusted financial partner to the business by providing insights, accountability, and proactive recommendations that improve operational and financial performance Who You Are Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 5+ years of accounting experience in progressive roles Demonstrate experience in multi-business units; construction-related preferred Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and construction financial reporting Audit or internal audit experience preferred Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Viewpoint) preferred Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail Advanced Excel proficiency and data reconciliation across large datasets Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments Self-directed with the ability to manage workload independently and escape issues appropriately Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to maintain confidentiality Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams, support colleagues, and drive accountability toward shared goals Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without future employment sponsorship Recruitment Agencies To protect the interests of all parties, AMPAM WILL NOT accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than directly from a candidate.
