Sr Mobile Diesel Mechanic

Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician Cox Fleet is hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician to perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and advanced repairs, diagnostics, and serve as a consultant on job sites. The role supports mobile fleet maintenance across our nationwide network, ensuring high-level performance metrics and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duties vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, etc.). Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment (Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials, etc.). Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment, using handheld computers and pressure gauges to diagnose malfunctions. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and confirm proper functionality. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives using sound judgment, and determine accurate solutions. Independently manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Manage multiple tasks, prioritizing work and allocating time effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work per company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via the company iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely manner. Manage own daily schedule with high independence. Maintain productivity and work within or near standard repair times. Source parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, or RO findings. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED and minimum 3 years of experience in a related field; alternatively, a higher degree or 5 years of experience is acceptable. At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Possess and supply a set of hand tools required for job duties. OEM training and certifications preferred. Complete all company‑required training. Successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment. Valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining, or a DOT physical if the card is expiring within four months. Minimum age 21 years or older. Valid driver’s license; maintain a Driver Qualification File. Compensation Hourly rate is in the range of $32.26 - $48.41 per hour . The base rate may vary based on location and candidate qualifications.
