Job Description Job Description Talent Scout — On-Air Recruiter, Sports & Hobby Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL | Full-Time | In-Person | Monday–Friday (some travel and weekend event coverage required) Backyard Breaks is hiring a Talent Scout to find the next generation of breakers and on-air personalities. In this role, you'll be the person who identifies, recruits, and pipelines the on-camera talent that powers our livestreams. Your work directly shapes who our audience sees on-air every day and how Backyard Breaks continues to set the standard for live entertainment in the sports card and collectibles industry. This is a high-touch, relationship-driven role for someone who lives in the hobby, knows the scene, and can spot a future on-air star before anyone else does. What You'll Do Identify, source, and recruit on-air talent Build and maintain a deep pipeline of prospective talent across multiple channels: social media, livestream platforms, card shows, hobby events, college campuses, and industry communities Conduct outreach, screening conversations, and on-camera auditions to evaluate fit Run structured interviews focused on on-air presence, sales ability, hobby fluency, and cultural alignment Travel to The National, regional card shows, athlete events, and other industry gatherings to scout talent and represent the Backyard Breaks brand Develop and manage relationships with college campuses, sports communications programs, broadcast journalism programs, and student organizations to build early-career pipelines Track and stay current on competitor talent rosters, breaking-industry personalities, and emerging creators across Whatnot, Fanatics Live, eBay Live, TikTok, and other platforms Maintain candidate records, pipeline data, and outreach activity in our ATS/ tracking systems Coordinate with HR on offer letters, onboarding handoffs, and new-hire setup Contribute to talent strategy: identify gaps in the on-air roster, anticipate content needs, and build pipelines ahead of demand What We're Looking For 2+ years of recruiting, talent sourcing, casting, scouting, or related talent acquisition experience Deep knowledge of the sports card hobby and the breaking industry, including major products, key personalities, and platform dynamics Strong understanding of what makes someone effective on-camera in a live sales environment Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect quickly with candidates across a wide range of backgrounds Confident outreach skills across cold messaging, in-person introductions, and event networking Highly organized, with the ability to manage a high-volume pipeline and multiple active searches simultaneously Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and personable tone Self-directed and proactive, comfortable owning your scouting calendar and deliverables Sound judgment when evaluating talent, including the ability to spot raw potential vs. polished but limited candidates Bonus Points If You Have personal connections within the breaking, sports card, or sports collectibles community Have prior experience recruiting on-air talent, casting, or working with creators and influencers Have an existing network of college sports communications, broadcasting, or media programs Have shopped, watched, or actively follow live commerce platforms (Whatnot, Fanatics Live, eBay Live) Bring experience in sports media, entertainment, or athlete representation What You'll Get Compensation: $70,000 Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Employer-sponsored coverage at a subsidized rate 15 Days PTO plus holidays off Travel & Event Budget: Coverage for travel to The National, major card shows, and other industry events as part of the role Direct Impact: You'll personally shape the on-air talent roster of the leading company in the breaking industry Physical Requirements Ability to travel regularly, including by air, for events, conventions, and campus visits Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for extended periods during industry events and trade shows Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (event materials, recruiting collateral, equipment) Comfortable working in active studio, warehouse, and event environments Who We Are Backyard Breaks is the leading company in the sports trading card and collectibles industry, fulfilling thousands of orders and running livestreams for collectors nationwide every week.
