Financial Controller (ABA Healthcare) AB Spectrum – St.Louis, MO, UnitedStates – Accounting/Finance About this Position AB Spectrum provides specialized ReggioABA™ therapy for young children (ages 1‑6). Our foundation is ABA, an evidence‑based therapy focused on developing communication, social, and adaptive living skills. Our centers use a unique Therapy Through Play model, embracing the principles of Reggio Emilia to create a child‑led learning environment. The team includes BCBAs, RBTs, SLPs, and Administration. Location & Compensation Location: St.Louis, MO Compensation: $80k – $100k + 20% bonus potential About the Role As Financial Controller, you are the vital link between clinical excellence and the organization’s financial health. You own the full financial performance, ensuring profitability, revenue accuracy, and budget performance. Partnering closely with the CEO, clinical, and operations teams, you provide “cash clarity” and data‑driven insights to support sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & P&L Ownership Own company‑wide and clinic‑level P&Ls; provide real‑time visibility into revenue, expenses, and profitability. Identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities across clinics. ABA Revenue & BCBA Performance Alignment Track and analyze BCBA billable hours vs. expectations; utilization; caseload vs. revenue output. Align clinical expectations with financial targets; ensure billing practices support compliance and profitability. Flag underperformance early and provide solutions. RCM & Collections Oversight Partner with RCM VP to ensure accurate billing and clean claims, strong collections (≥97%) and reduced AR aging. Identify and resolve revenue leakage, billing delays, and payer‑specific issues. Budgeting, Forecasting & Growth Planning Own department and clinic‑level budgeting; reallocate resources to ensure real‑time budget effectiveness. Build budgets tied to staffing, client demand, and clinic expansion plans. Work with COO & operations on supply‑vs‑demand planning and hiring timelines. Cash Flow & Owner‑Level Financial Clarity Manage and forecast cash flow, insurance payment cycles, payroll, and major expenses. Create clear views of true profit, owner expenses, and capital project funding. Ensure financials support banking, lending, and investment activities. Expense Management & Cost Control Analyze major cost drivers (labor, facilities, admin, overhead). Set cost targets, improve margins, and reduce inefficiencies while maintaining care quality. Systems, Reporting & Visibility Build dashboards (e.g., Lightdash) showing revenue, clinic performance, and cash flow. Ensure simple, real‑time visibility for leadership; improve reporting speed and accuracy. Cross‑Functional Leadership Collaborate with CCO (clinical) to align billable expectations and quality. Work with COO (operations) to align staffing, scheduling, and clinic performance. Work with RCM to ensure revenue integrity and collections. Collaborate with HR/People Ops for compensation and workforce planning. Financial Decision‑Making & Ownership Drive financial recommendations and decisions, with final approval by ownership. Ensure budgets are actively managed and adjusted in real time. Provide clear financial direction for executive decisions. Compensation, Incentives & Leader Support Design and model bonus and incentive structures; align with profitability, revenue performance, and clinical outcomes. Provide visibility into financial feasibility of raises, bonuses, and incentives. Help leaders understand financial impact and opportunities. Compliance & Risk Ensure alignment with healthcare billing standards and insurance compliance. Maintain clean, audit‑ready financials. Top Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. Certification: CPA (Highly Preferred). Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; healthcare experience in ABA or multi‑site clinics is a massive plus. Skillset: Comfortable with RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) and building data dashboards. Pay range: $80,000 – $100,000 USD per year (St.Louis, MO).
