The Mechanical Project Manager leads large-scale mechanical piping projects across Data Centers, Healthcare Facilities, Hospitals, Industrial sites, and other mission-critical environments. This role manages the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout, with direct accountability for schedules, budgets, profitability, client relationships, and overall project execution. The position requires the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with owners, contractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and internal project teams in a fast-paced construction setting.

• Lead mechanical piping projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring successful execution across scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
• Manage pre-construction activities including preplanning, procurement strategies, and detailed construction project scheduling.
• Review and approve project budgets for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors, allocating resources effectively while maintaining budgetary discipline.
• Negotiate and draft subcontractor agreements with external vendors to secure favorable terms and support project objectives.
• Oversee project financials, including profitability, forecasting, cash flow management, and cost controls, with direct accountability for financial performance.
• Monitor cost-to-complete performance and compare against initial budgets, taking corrective actions to maintain or improve profitability.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts by collaborating with engineers, architects, owners, consultants, and trade partners to refine project specifications.
• Lead strategic planning for project submittals, Requests for Information (RFIs), procurement activities, and change order processes.
• Implement monthly cost reports and maintain accurate cost projections to support informed decision-making and financial transparency.
• Research and recommend construction means and methods, procurement approaches, and project timelines to optimize efficiency and outcomes.
• Recognize, price, submit, and implement change orders as needed, ensuring proper documentation and client communication.
• Review and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices, verifying accuracy and alignment with contracts and project budgets.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and quality standards, promptly reporting and addressing any issues or non-compliance.
• Maintain a deep understanding of mechanical piping systems, construction procedures, project controls, and project management principles.
• Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and procurement of equipment and materials to support continuous and efficient project progress.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for project communication and reporting.
• Identify and pursue upcoming work opportunities with existing and prospective clients, supporting business development efforts.
• Plan manpower needs and allocate internal and external resources to meet project demands and timelines.
• Utilize construction management software platforms such as Bluebeam, Procore, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project to manage schedules, documents, and project controls.
• Enforce project procedures, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe, productive, and compliant working environment.
• Directly supervise subcontractors, Project Engineers, and Assistant Project Managers, providing guidance and oversight on project tasks.
• Train and mentor Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and junior personnel on technical aspects of project management and company processes.
• Organize and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, contracts, change orders, procurement records, and project correspondence.
• Professionally solicit vendors and suppliers during the procurement process to secure competitive pricing and reliable materials and services.
• Prepare and utilize SWOT analyses and risk assessments for current and future projects to anticipate challenges and inform strategy.
• Apply strong budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and project controls knowledge to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Resolve complex project issues related to schedule, budget, manpower, procurement, and execution, maintaining project momentum.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates, reports, and status summaries.
• Collaborate with internal support services and project support personnel to coordinate administrative, technical, and logistical needs.

• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage complex mechanical construction projects independently.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with clients, owners, contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and subcontractors.

• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and related software tools.
• Experience utilizing construction management platforms such as Bluebeam, Procore, and Primavera P6 (strongly preferred).
• In-depth mechanical piping knowledge and experience in mechanical construction.
• Solid project management expertise, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and project controls.
• Ability to train and mentor junior project team members, including Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.
• Understanding of company resource production capabilities and the ability to apply them effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
• Professional approach to vendor and supplier solicitation during procurement processes.
• Ability to prepare and use SWOT analyses and risk assessments to support project planning and decision-making.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and project controls skills to manage financial and operational aspects of projects.

• Client-facing communication and relationship-building skills to support long-term partnerships and repeat business.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry managing mechanical construction projects valued up to $15M+ in scope.
• Direct mechanical piping experience on large-scale construction projects.
• Experience managing project financials, forecasting, procurement, subcontractors, schedules, and client relationships.
• Experience supporting Data Center, Healthcare, Hospital, Industrial, or Mission-Critical projects.

• Degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline is highly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Data Center construction projects.
• Healthcare and hospital construction experience, particularly involving mechanical piping systems.
• Mission-critical construction experience or similar high-availability facility project background.
• Extensive mechanical piping experience in complex building environments.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam for document review and collaboration.
• Proficiency with Procore for project management, documentation, and communication.
• Experience with Primavera P6 for advanced scheduling and project controls.
• Demonstrated forecasting and financial ownership experience, including responsibility for profitability and cash flow.
• Experience managing projects ranging from $5M to $15M+ in value.
• Client-facing project management experience with responsibility for communication, reporting, and stakeholder management.
• Experience working in Data Center, Healthcare, Hospital, Industrial, and other mission-critical construction settings.

This role operates in a fast-paced construction project environment focused on large-scale mechanical piping installations. Projects are primarily located in the greater Atlanta region, with Data Center work largely south of the city and Healthcare and Hospital projects mainly north of the city. The position requires frequent onsite presence at active construction sites and daily collaboration with owners, contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors. This is a Contract position based out of Conyers, GA.

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
