Senior Director Clinic Operations
$165.5k - $264.43kProvidence
Calling All Esteemed Leaders! Are you a healthcare operations leader who excels at building high-performing ambulatory teams, advancing clinical service lines, and translating strategy into operational results? Do you thrive in complex, multidisciplinary environments where collaboration, accountability, and patient-centered care drive success? If so, we invite you to explore this leadership opportunity with Swedish Neuroscience Institute.
The Role
In collaboration with SMG administration, Swedish Neuroscience Institute medical directors, physician leaders, and enterprise partners, the Senior Director Clinic Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the ambulatory functions of the institute and related care continuum partnerships. This role is responsible for translating institute and organizational strategy into executable operational plans that advance quality, access, growth, patient experience, workforce engagement, and financial performance across SNI programs and sites.
The Senior Director has direct accountability for outpatient clinic operations and indirect influence across the broader neuroscience continuum, including coordination with inpatient, procedural, diagnostic, rehabilitation, and support services. The role leads through senior managers, clinic managers, and other operational leaders to ensure consistent standards, strong local execution, and alignment across multiple clinics, providers, and subspecialty programs. A critical expectation of this position is the development of clinic leadership infrastructure, including clear role expectations for managers, operational governance, communication cadence, performance accountability, and escalation pathways that support reliable day-to-day clinic performance and long-term strategic growth.
This leader serves as a key integrator between physicians, clinic operations, nursing, and enterprise support functions. The Senior Director is expected to foster timely, bidirectional communication across departments; reduce fragmentation between sites and services; and ensure clinic managers are equipped to communicate priorities, escalate risks, and implement change effectively. The role is accountable for building a high-performing management structure that supports caregiver engagement, standardization where appropriate, responsiveness to local clinic needs, and coordinated decision-making across the institute.
The Senior Director contributes to effective and efficient operations in support of high-quality, cost-effective patient care and is responsible for implementing organizational philosophy, goals, and policies in a manner consistent with Swedish's mission and values. This position requires advanced leadership judgment, strong financial and operational acumen, and the ability to drive multidisciplinary collaboration while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage strategic and operational initiatives across the SNI with a focus on advancing neuroscience service line excellence, including neurology, neurosurgery, stroke, spine, and subspecialty programs.
- Provide leadership to ensure achievement of goals related to clinical quality, patient outcomes, access, growth, financial performance, and patient experience across the neuroscience continuum of care.
- Serve as a trusted leader and mentor to direct reports, ensuring alignment of operational priorities with neuroscience institute strategy, physician engagement, and multidisciplinary care delivery models.
- Partner closely with neuroscience medical directors, physician leaders, and inpatient/outpatient teams to design, implement, and optimize integrated care models across ambulatory, procedural, and acute care settings.
- Identify operational, clinical, and structural barriers that impact neuroscience patient flow, access, and outcomes, and implement sustainable solutions to improve coordination and efficiency.
- Oversee development and execution of neuroscience program growth strategies, including expansion of specialty services, new care models, and market differentiation initiatives.
- Define and operationalize clear expectations for senior managers and clinic managers, including accountability for daily clinic performance, access, staffing, provider support, and patient experience outcomes.
- Establish and maintain a standardized communication cadence across clinic operations, including routine leadership alignment, structured performance review, and clear escalation pathways with defined ownership and follow-through.
- Design and implement consistent clinic operating models and management infrastructure, including performance accountability frameworks, standardized workflows, and mechanisms to ensure reliable execution across sites.
- Establish and monitor neuroscience-specific performance metrics, including quality indicators (e.g., stroke, epilepsy, spine outcomes), access, throughput, and patient experience, driving continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and certification standards relevant to neuroscience programs (e.g., stroke center certification, specialty registries, and national benchmarking organizations).
- Collaborate with executive leadership to prioritize and advance high-impact neuroscience initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and community health needs.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including physicians, advanced practice providers, hospital partners, and community organizations, to enhance neuroscience service delivery.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to support care continuum integration, including transitions between ambulatory, inpatient, rehabilitation, and post-acute neuroscience services.
- Direct and administer operations to ensure delivery of high-quality, cost-effective neuroscience care, including development and oversight of policies, procedures, and clinical workflows.
- Evaluate organizational structure, staffing models, and resource allocation to support complex neuroscience clinical programs and subspecialty growth, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Facilitate effective communication and alignment across stakeholders to support implementation of neuroscience initiatives and system-wide priorities.
- Provide executive oversight of high-profile neuroscience projects and service line innovations, ensuring timely execution and measurable outcomes.
- Serve as an active member of the SMG Leadership Team, contributing to region-wide strategy while representing neuroscience priorities and opportunities.
- Apply a strategic, forward-looking approach to planning, balancing short- and long-term neuroscience program needs, workforce planning, and capital/resource investments.
