Key Responsibilities of the Echo Tech - Interventional Radiology

• Perform technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac exams.
• Coordinate with interrelated hospital departments such as scheduling, patient transport, and billing.
• Assist cardiologists during exams and facilitate effective communication for accurate diagnoses.
• Deliver, pick up, and distribute dictations efficiently.
• Respond to patient needs during exams and report condition changes to healthcare providers.
• Manage Echo supplies and ensure equipment quality control and maintenance.
• Participate in departmental Performance Improvement activities.
• Provide on-call coverage for after-hours echo emergency exams as needed.
• Engage in continuous professional development by staying updated in the field of Echocardiography.

Requirements of the Echo Tech - Interventional Radiology

• A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible or comparable national accreditation required.
• State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License.
• BLS certification issued through American Heart Association.
• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a two-year allied health education program.
• Two years of experience performing echocardiograms preferred.
