Job Description

This contract-to-hire Mechanical Assembler role focuses on assembling aluminum components and systems used in large-scale commercial and multifamily construction projects. You will work in a fast-paced production environment, using hand and power tools to build architectural aluminum systems such as prefabricated balconies and railing systems. On second shift, you will primarily prepare materials and production supplies to ensure the morning shift can start production efficiently. This is a 90-day contract-to-hire opportunity with strong potential for long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aluminum components and systems according to blueprints, schematics, and production specifications.
• Use hand tools and power tools to perform mechanical assembly tasks safely and accurately.
• Measure and verify materials using a tape measure to ensure components meet required dimensions.
• Prepare and stage materials, parts, and production supplies for the first shift, ensuring they are organized and ready for use.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and make adjustments during assembly to maintain product quality and production flow.
• Follow quality inspection processes to verify that assembled products meet standards and customer requirements.
• Work on an assembly line in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Collaborate with team members and follow instructions from production leads to meet daily production targets.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety guidelines and company procedures.
• Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a positive, coachable attitude in all aspects of the job.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience as a Mechanical Assembler in a production or manufacturing environment.
• At least 1 year of experience using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately; willingness and ability to complete a tape measure test.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for assembly work.
• Experience working on an assembly line or in general labor roles within a manufacturing setting.
• Strong coachability, reliability, and a consistently positive attitude.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with aluminum or metal assembly and fabrication.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and make basic adjustments during the assembly process.
• Familiarity with quality inspection processes and procedures.
• Experience in construction-related manufacturing environments.
• Willingness to work a contract-to-hire role with the goal of long-term employment and growth.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production facility focused on architectural aluminum systems, operating in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment of roughly 20 people. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with the second shift currently projected through late September to early October to help the team catch up on orders. High-performing team members may transition from second shift to first shift (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday) when the second shift is dissolved. Work involves standing, moving along the assembly line, and handling aluminum materials using common hand and power tools. The dress code requires long pants, steel-toed boots or shoes, and a plain T-shirt to support safety and practicality on the production floor.

This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
