Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2+ years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS BLS NIHSS Must-Have: Strong neuro experience required Description: We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Neuro ICU. The unit cares for patients with ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, seizures, and neuromuscular diseases. Patients may also have meningitis and may be post-operative neurosurgery patients. Common procedures performed in the unit include spinal surgeries, craniotomies, and cerebrovascular surgeries. Bedside procedures include tracheostomy, PEG placement, central line and arterial line placements, and external ventricular drain (EVD) placement. Candidates must possess skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, obtaining 12 lead EKGs, and blood product administration. The role involves care for ventilated patients, managing ICP monitoring, and using IV insulin protocols. Floating to different units may be required as needed. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. For day shifts, weekends are considered Saturday and Sunday. For night shifts, weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday. Orientation will be provided, with focus on essential skills for the role.
