Podiatrist (Deputy Chief - Imaging) Department: Department of Veterans Affairs Location: San Antonio, Texas Salary Range: $390,000 - $400,000 Per Year Job Summary The Imaging Service’s mission is to lead dedicated staff to providing high quality patient‑centered care at South Texas Veteran’s Health Care System (STVHCS). The Deputy Chief (Imaging Service) manager supports this mission through administrative leadership, direct and/or virtual patient care, and oversight of educational and research activities. Responsibilities Administrative Duties: Organize staff meetings, craft congressional responses, update functional statements and position descriptions, and recommend physician salary and pay panel recommendations. Human Resources Management: Recruit, conduct performance appraisals, manage rewards and recognition, promotions, disciplinary actions and grievances, and training requirements. Time and Leave Management: Assign tour of duty, document leave, certify time cards, and approve related documentation. Supervisory Duties: Manage service‑level quality improvement activities, develop performance standards, evaluate work performance, counsel and instruct staff, resolve complaints with Labor Relations, interview candidates, and recommend appointments, promotions, reassignments, and improvements in production and quality of work. Clinical Duties: Provide direct patient care and education, investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care, manage clinically‑related activities of the diagnostic radiology section, coordinate integration of interdepartmental services, and maintain quality control programs. Qualifications Citizenship: United States citizen. Language: Proficient in spoken and written English. Education: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine or equivalent from an approved school of podiatric medicine. Residency: Completed or currently completing an approved residency in an accredited core specialty training program leading to board certification. License: Full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Section Chief or Line Manager Requirements: Outstanding professional ability in the practice of medicine or a medical specialty and ability to guide the development and implementation of programs, including medical practice, professional standards, personnel issues, and quality and performance improvement. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases. Paid time off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5 days paid absence for CME).
