SUMMARY:

The Assistant Controller will start with day-to-day accounting responsibilities for a couple of our manufacturing facilities while learning and assisting in responsibilities for the overall accounting and treasury functions of the company as well as data analytics with the FP&A group.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Controller Duties and Responsibilities - Plant: Perform a timely and accurate month end close by preparing supporting workpapers and recording needed journal entries and reviewing general ledger activity for accuracy. Support plant management – Prepare spending summaries; weekly forecasts; other ad-hoc analysis as required. Design, implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls. Assist in preparation of the annual budget and report on the reasons for any variances during the year. Coordinate data collection for annual financial audit Assist with semi-annual inventories. Serve as point of contact for special projects and financial analysis needed by corporate operations.

Controller Duties and Responsibilities – Corporate: Assist the Corporate Controller by preparing journal entries and account analysis for the St. Louis office. Monthly consolidations, cash flows and bank covenant tracking. Coordinate the ASC 842 lease analysis and quarterly entries with the consulting firm. Assist in the year-end close by preparing fixed assets schedules and entries, inventory valuation calculations, health care cost accruals and other various areas. Work with the HR department to prepare the annual 5500s for the various 401k plans and the 990 for the self-funded health insurance plan and coordinate the necessary audits of same. Assist with the annual UK parent company audit schedules and consolidations. Prepare monthly sales and use tax returns for the various jurisdictions. Assist in completing various government surveys. Assist in preparation of annual budget. Assist in the annual audit. Design, implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls.

Treasury Responsibilities: Being a backup to insure daily reconciliations of our main operating accounts are being done. Assist as needed in generating outbound wire transfers. Assist in establishing new accounts when needed.

FP&A Responsibilities: Reconcile sales data to the general ledger on a monthly basis to enable tracking sales by states for various reporting and tax filings obligations. Support the Sales group by running various reports as requested.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be PC proficient and having ERP systems experience a plus. Must have experience with Microsoft Office products with strong skills in Excel in particular. Possess the ability to effectively convey thoughts in both verbal and written communication methods. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Business with concentration in Accounting or related field required. 5+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience. MBA or CPA are desirable, but not required. Public accounting and manufacturing industry experience required An understanding of GAAP.
