Our UK-based client is hiring a full-time, remote Accounts Payable Clerk based in South Africa. You will own the purchase ledger: capturing invoices, matching them to orders, resolving queries and preparing payment runs with clockwork reliability. This is a long-term role on UK business hours.

Key responsibilities include:

• Capture and code supplier invoices accurately into the accounting system
• Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes, investigating mismatches
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries promptly
• Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs for approval
• Maintain clean vendor records and chase missing documentation
• Support month-end close with accruals and ledger housekeeping
• Flag duplicate, unusual or suspicious invoices before they cost money

What you will be doing day-to-day:

Your day starts with the invoice inbox: capturing, coding and routing everything that arrived overnight. You will work through matching exceptions, contact suppliers about discrepancies, and keep the query log short and honest.

As payment runs approach you will prepare schedules, double-check details, and make sure approvals happen on time. At month-end you will reconcile statements and hand the ledger to the accountant in a state that needs no apology.
