Kind of Work
Professional, supervisory, and administrative work for the New Orleans Public Library. Employees in this class either manage a special collection, a technical services operation, or a major library system function. Work includes performing difficult or original cataloging or ordering of rare books, orchestral music titles, and specialized library materials, participating in materials selections, performing technical services, implementing staff training programs, and program development and evaluation. Duties include staff scheduling, attention to physical branch facility, selecting, training, and evaluating branch staff. Tasks include, but are not limited to circulation, interlibrary loan, technological reference, and all related library operations. Work also includes developing and implementing programs, services and special events to promote use of library services; and related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications Promotional:
1. A Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited graduate library school.*
2. Permanent status as a Librarian II or Library Branch Manager I with the New Orleans Public Library and four (4) years of experience in any combination of Librarian I, Librarian II or Library Branch Manager I with New Orleans Public Library. Original Entrance:
