Job Summary

Paramedic — Paramedic Specialty, Wisconsin. The position provides basic and advanced life support treatment, patient assessment, stabilization, and ongoing care for ill or injured patients. Responsibilities include documenting patient care, implementing protocol-based interventions, communicating patient conditions, and collaborating with physicians, registered nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams.

Job Details

• Schedule: Rotating schedule consisting of two 24-hour shifts per week or four 12-hour shifts per week, totaling 48 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend as needed, with holidays covered as needed and available.
• Required Qualifications: Active Wisconsin Paramedic license or certification; active Minnesota Paramedic license or certification; valid driver’s license in good standing; high school graduation and successful completion of an emergency medical services paramedic program; Associate Degree or certificate; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Preferred Qualifications: Wisconsin Critical Care Paramedic endorsement; three years of interfacility transport or critical care experience.
• Additional Information: Provides basic and advanced life support treatment, patient evaluation, ongoing assessment, and required documentation. Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, preparing patients for examination, monitoring and communicating patient conditions, initiating interventions under established protocols, assisting with provider-ordered treatments and tests, and stabilizing ill or injured patients in collaboration with a physician or registered nurse. The role requires collaborative teamwork, independent judgment, strong decision-making, the ability to perform under stress, and the ability to recognize and treat life-threatening conditions. Crew configurations may include Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic, Paramedic and Paramedic, Registered Nurse and Emergency Medical Technician, or Registered Nurse and Paramedic. Orientation attendance in Wisconsin is required on the designated start date.
