Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Mechanical Designer II and become a vital contributor to engineering operations. The Continental Hydraulics engineering team is responsible for the design, layout and documentation of CHI hydraulic power units as well as the design and maintenance of manufacturing-assembly procedures for pumps, motors and valves. Mechanical Designer II will report to the Product and Applications Manager and will interact on a regular basis with other engineering staff and management. This position works cooperatively with other Continental organization staff.

Essential Responsibilities

·         Create 3D CAD models, schematics and prints of essential hydraulic components and/or system designs

·         Perform design troubleshooting and testing for CHI developed products such as vane pumps, piston pumps, hydraulic valves etc.

·         Support the sales group and distribution channel with technical support and design recommendations for hydraulic assemblies, including manifolds and power units.

·         Exercises constantly creative thinking in design work and utilizes knowledge of basic engineering principles, equipment, or design practices and current manufacturing methods and procedures.

·         Design, document and coordinate system operations to ensure the manufacturing operations are aligned in their work procedures.

·         Identify components for standardization in design to achieve both quality and cost objectives. Aids in selection, recommendation, and usage of materials and components.

·         Creatively work with Sales and Management on new product developments for future growth. Understand that at the heart of business, customer service is everyone’s responsibility.

·         Assures that all design work meets pertinent industry standards, particularly safety and quality. Follow necessary steps and processes to promote drawings and part numbers to production

Qualifications

Education and Experience

·         5+ years of occupational hydraulic design and engineering design experience.

·         Associates degrees or equivalent in hydraulics, fluid power specialist or similar.

·         2-3 years of Solidworks CAD training or experience in both 2D and 3D (part and assemblies).

·         2 years of casting and machined part design experience Enjoys being technical, but also hands-on as engineering is a fluid role.

·         Excellent customer service, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintain attention to detail, and work independently while collaborating effectively with others.

·         Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics, company policies, and applicable standards.

·         Able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen.

Technical Skills

·         Proficiency in using personal computers, standard business software, and other work-related applications with minimal instruction.

Physical Demands

·         Possess the ability to lift at least 10 pounds and up to 50 pounds occasionally and may need to exert themselves while performing the above-mentioned duties.

·         Frequently use hands and fingers to write, operate computers and electronic devices, and safely use a variety of hand and power tools.

·         Ability to drive a car and travel worksites.

·         Work environment is office setting. Proper PPE is required in the manufacturing area.

Compensation and Benefits

• This is a full-time position with an expected annual salary of $70,000 to $78,000; depending on qualifications and experience.
