Accounts Receivable Specialist (Remote - 6-Month Contract)
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Position Type: Contract (6 Months)
Schedule: Full-Time

Hourly pay rate: $25-$29

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their team on a 6-month contract basis. This fully remote position will play a key role in supporting the accounts receivable function by managing customer accounts, resolving payment issues, processing cash receipts, and ensuring timely collections.
The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with internal departments and external customers.
Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage assigned accounts to ensure timely payment and reduction of outstanding balances.
• Proactively communicate with customers regarding past-due invoices and payment status.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, unapplied cash, and account issues.
• Process and post customer payments accurately and efficiently.
• Reconcile customer accounts and research payment variances.
• Maintain accurate records of collection activities and account correspondence.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide support regarding invoices, account balances, and payment information.
• Manage incoming requests through shared accounts receivable inboxes and internal ticketing systems.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Customer Service, Sales, and Operations teams to resolve payment-related concerns.
• Assist with month-end reporting, account reviews, and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of Accounts Receivable, Collections, Billing, or related accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and accounting fundamentals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Experience researching account discrepancies and resolving customer issues independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with ERP, accounting, or CRM systems.
• Knowledge of cash application processes and account reconciliations.
• Previous experience supporting high-volume customer accounts.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or other customer support platforms is a plus.
