Senior Principal Product Leader, Therapeutics Discovery

The new Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CS CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness the power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver innovative medicines worldwide. This Senior Principal Product Leader reports to the Domain Head for Therapeutics Discovery and plays a key role in defining and executing the strategy for a family of products critical to drug discovery research. Responsibilities Define and refine the product strategy and vision for a therapeutics discovery product family, ensuring maximum scientific impact. Develop deep problem understanding, articulate the product roadmap, and nurture relationships with stakeholders. Lead execution of the product area, including eliciting requirements, prioritizing backlog, managing budget, and driving delivery. Advocate for future-facing solutions, anticipate emerging capabilities, and influence the Roche/Genentech informatics landscape. Identify key trends, technologies, and open‑source, cloud‑first, API‑first, and AI‑first approaches. Contribute to consolidation and deprecation of legacy systems, reducing technical debt. Establish and cultivate strong internal and external partnerships with collaborators in DDC, CS CoE, and beyond. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus 12years of experience, or an advanced degree plus 10years of experience in building impactful products that drive significant outcomes. Proven experience in product management, business analysis, or software engineering. Strong preference for experience working in a drug discovery setting and understanding drug discovery processes. Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance). Experience leading large, complex programs involving multiple teams and stakeholders. Ability to document detailed software requirements, user stories, business processes, and specifications for custom and COTS systems. Highly collaborative with demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with internal and external partners, including globally distributed teams. Outstanding oral and written communication skills and ability to present to diverse audiences, including scientific collaborators and technical teams. Salary & Benefits Expected salary range for this position (primary location: California) is $170,200–$316,000 . The actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available.
