Bumble Bee Research Technician The iBUG lab ( is looking for a research technician that will help lead a new project to monitor bumble bees at sites in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This work is supported by the USGS Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units and the DoD Environmental Security Technology Certification Program. Anticipated starting date: June 1, 2026. End date: September 30, 2026. Location: Twin Cities. Job Type: Part-Time (Regular). Responsibilities Assist with research (75%): Identify monitoring sites, develop protocols, arrange travel, and conduct surveys along with initializing camera traps and testing efficacy in a variety of field-based contexts. Data curation and reporting (15%): Compile and curate survey data and submit to federal agencies in keeping with federal permitting requirements. Lab outreach and communication (10%): Participation in public outreach and education around bumble and wild bee biology, including development of outreach materials. Qualifications Required Qualifications BA/BS in entomology, ecology, biology, plant sciences, or related field. Research experience in a university or industrial setting. 100% FTE availability (40 hours per week). Ability to lift 50 lbs and comfort working regularly in outdoor environments. Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of bumble bee identification and biology. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Clear and effective written and oral communication skills. Understanding of the principles of data collection and ethics. Excellent team-player and capacity to organize people to achieve a common goal. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $24.65 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications.
