Temporary - Electrical and Control Technician I – Utilities and Energy Management (UTEMPS) Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Weekly Hours: 40 Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until May 31, 2027 Hourly Rate: $25.00 Responsibilities Assists in performing journey-level installation, retrofit, and modification of low and medium-voltage circuit breakers and switchgear, lighting, battery equipment, motors, motor starters, VFDs, soft‑starters, PLCs, DCS, UPSs, and ATS systems. Assists in other electrical and controls-related items in a power and chill water production environment. Maintains compliance with the National Electric Code. Required Qualifications High school graduation or GED. At least 2‑years of related apprentice‑level experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems for mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment. Hold a current Texas apprentice electrician license or attain one within 3 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications At least 4‑years of related apprentice level experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation and control systems for mechanical, electrical and industrial equipment in a power and chill water production environment. Graduation/certification from a relevant trade school. Texas Journeyman Electrician License. Driving Requirements Class C driver’s license required. Applicants must provide a current three‑year driving record from the state of residence. If not a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Working Conditions Attire: Jeans. Uniforms and safety shoes provided. Work Shift Hours per week: 40. Work hours: 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Friday. Every other Friday is off for half the crew. Required Materials Resume/CV.
