Senior Accountant

Position Overview Well‑established mission‑driven nonprofit organization in the Indianapolis market seeking a Senior Accountant to support complex fund accounting, financial reporting, and operational accounting functions within a collaborative and community‑focused environment. Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 per year. Responsibilities Manage and oversee all aspects of the accounting department including daily operations, financial reporting, tax planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash. Conduct regular ledger maintenance and reconciliation activities. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Coordinate with external auditors and manage internal controls. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards. Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments. Manage the preparation of payroll for personnel. Supervise, mentor, and develop junior members of the finance team. Implement and monitor the company's financial policies and procedures. Analyze complex financial data and provide accurate financial recommendations to the management. Participate in strategic planning, fraud prevention, and budget development. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field & CPA. Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a senior role. Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with other finance‑specific software. In‑depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
