Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care to patients with various cardiopulmonary conditions. This role requires proficiency in assessing, diagnosing, and implementing treatment plans for patients experiencing respiratory distress or requiring therapeutic ventilation support.

The RRT performs diagnostic tests and interprets results to determine the need for respiratory intervention. They administer respiratory therapy treatments including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, and mechanical ventilation. They monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on clinical assessments. The RRT collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care plans for patients. They educate patients and their families on respiratory techniques and equipment usage. They maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care and treatment plans. They ensure compliance with safety and health regulations in the delivery of respiratory care services.

Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the appropriate regulatory body is required. Strong knowledge of respiratory care practices and therapeutic techniques is necessary. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients and healthcare teams are essential. The ability to work independently and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations is required. Experience in critical care or working with ventilated patients is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.

This position requires a night shift schedule, working three 12-hour shifts. Example shift hours are from 18:30 to 07:00.

No block schedules are offered for this position. Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and patient needs is essential.
