Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Wheeling, West Virginia.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/14/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, rotating\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Rotating, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 14, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring BLS and NIHSS certification.Details\n \n Med/Surg unit (30 beds) in an acute care hospital setting\n Patient population includes CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appy, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI cases\n Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, up to 1:7\n Charge RN present on the floor in addition to assigned staff\n PCTs available on the unit for support\n RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results\n Intermittent BIPAP used; no ventilators on unit\n Telemetry monitored remotely by monitor techs\n EPIC EMR used\n 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with weekends as scheduled (approximately half of total weekends)\n No standby or on-call requirement\n Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first\n Navy blue scrubs required\n Requirements\n \n Active WV or compact RN license required\n Minimum 2 years of experience required\n BLS (AHA) certification required\n NIHSS certification required\n Acute care Med/Surg experience required\n Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care within a busy Med/Surg unit handling a variety of medical-surgical diagnoses\n Collaborate with charge RN and PCT support staff\n Must disclose any licensing history at time of consideration\n Local candidates within a 50-mile radius will not be considered as travelers\n Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine facility must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying\n Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than a year without taking a 2-year break, with cumulative experience applied\n All candidates interview directly with the unit manager\n First-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-753036.
