The Behavior Technician Supervisor (BTS) is the bridge between Behavior Support Technicians (BSTs), people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and day-to-day operations of Individual Supported living (ISL). You will encourage and mentor individuals and Behavior Support Technicians by supporting them in maximizing their full potential. The BTS role is involved in providing training and supports to all aspects of individuals life activities and to BSTs working within their assigned clients' home (ISL).

A Behavioral Technician Supervisor provides support to individuals who have some form of Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability as well as a Psychiatric/Behavioral Diagnosis, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders or Autistic Tendencies. These individuals are prone to poor social and communication skills, exhibiting impulsive behaviors, poor decision making, and verbal/physical aggression. Behavioral Observation and Assessment and Crisis Intervention and Prevention Skills are used on a daily basis. An employee in this class provides assistance and training to assigned individuals served in dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, and other activities of daily living. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the purchasing of groceries, training in food preparation, administering medications, and assisting in the management of personal funds. In the absence of the Program Supervisor or other management staff, the Behavioral Technician Supervisor functions as a supervisor for an assigned team in implementing and coordinating all developmental activities within the residential setting in the provision of active habilitation programming including, but not limited to, improving client self-help skills, economic self-sufficiency, socialization, leisure skills, mobility, communication, etc. Work involves overall responsibility for the health and well-being of individuals served, insuring staff coverage, reporting and recording observations, circulating and implementing directives, and for maintaining necessary records and reports.
Supervision is received from Program Supervisor or other professional staff member; however, the employee is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative within the limit of established policies and procedures.

Assists with the purchasing of groceries and supplies; assist in the preparation and training in food preparation in compliance with dietary needs; supervises meal activities and assists individuals served as necessary.
Provides support to persons served in maintaining a safe and clean environment in their home and training to individuals served in dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, and other activities of daily living. Ensures the residential setting is safe and clean.
Assists the Program Supervisor or other management staff in supervising the application of basic health care for individuals served; administers medications to individuals served in accordance with agency policies and procedures and after certification by Missouri State and Arc officials. Assists with Physicians' appointments as assigned; assuring that documentation is correct.
Administers oral, rectal, vaginal, optic, ophthalmic, nasal, and topical medications, after certification by The Arc of the Ozarks and Missouri State officials.
Takes appropriate action in case of fire and/or disaster or other urgent / emergency. Will also create solutions for crisis situations according to Arc policy and crisis prevention and intervention training.
Assists in maintaining an inventory of supplies in the home and ordering / notifying appropriate parties of needed items so client's homes always have necessary items.
Documentation and Quality Supports
Behavioral Observation/ Assessment and Crisis Intervention and Prevention Skills are used on a daily basis
Implements outcomes and strategies of individual personal plans under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, or other staff members; provides supports as identified in the personal plans; attends review meetings when assigned.
Observes, reports and records changes in the physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of each individual served and progress on outcomes listed in the personal plan. Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of necessary records and reports.
Assists in the orientation and training of new employees; demonstrating direct support activities to staff.
Encourages the development and maintenance of a safe environment for persons served in a residential setting including developing plans for evacuation assistance in case of emergency, using the on-call pager; and training in securing emergency services such as the police, the fire department, and an ambulance.
Completes medical/injury incident and behavioral reports when necessary. These forms will be completed and turned in by the end of the working day the incident occurred. The Behavioral Technician Supervisor will need to make sure that the reports are filled out for all medical/injury and behavioral incidents.
Community Involvement
Provides assistance and planning to individuals served in becoming as mobile in their community environment as possible and assists the individuals' requiring supports in participating in varied meaningful vocational, domestic, and leisure activities in the community of their choosing.

Completes or supervises all monthly filing; monthly summary sheets, MAR's, Nurse consultations, Monthly Budgets, Accident/Injury Reports, Behavior Incident Reports.
Supportive Supervisory Responsibilities
In the absence of the Program Supervisor or other management staff, supervises direct support staff and evaluates performance and quality standards in accordance with established agency policy.
Circulates and implements directives of Program Supervisor or other management staff and reports rule infractions, complaints from individual's served/parents/ guardians/employees, and related incidents to Program Supervisor or other management staff in a timely manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
Ability to work with and respect persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Ability to work varied and flexible hours, to accept and adapt to changes in assignments, methods, policies, etc.

Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications
Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalent. Six months experience providing direct assistance in the care, treatment and habilitation in the human service field. Experience in the providing assistance in the care, treatment and habilitation to individuals who have intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities is preferred.

- Successfully complete a course in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid
- Successfully complete a 16 hours course in Medication Administration.
- Successfully complete a 10 course in MANDT System Workshop
- Successfully complete a course in OSHA regulations on Health and Safety.
- Successfully complete a course in Abuse & Neglect
- Successfully complete a course in Electronic Documentation
- Other trainings per department or per home location may be required, refer to policy 8.106 for specific requirements.
