Plant Supervisor

Plant Manager

Job Roles and Responsibilities
Plant Operations
  • Direct daily manufacturing operations including production, maintenance, quality, warehouse, logistics, and scheduling
  • Ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery standards
  • Improve equipment utilization, plant efficiency, and throughput
  • Track and analyze production KPIs including downtime, scrap, labor efficiency, and output
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives across operations
Twin Screw Extrusion Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership for twin screw extrusion processes
  • Optimize extrusion parameters for productivity, quality, and cost efficiency
  • Troubleshoot issues related to polymers, additives, fillers, colorants, feeding systems, and pelletizing
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, machine setups, and SOPs
  • Support scale-up of new formulations from development to production
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and customers on process solutions
Quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards
  • Support ISO quality systems and compliance requirements
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
  • Drive waste reduction and process optimization initiatives
Safety and Compliance
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the facility
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations
  • Conduct safety meetings and incident investigations
  • Maintain clean and organized operations
Leadership and Team Development
  • Recruit, train, and develop production teams
  • Set performance expectations and ensure accountability
  • Foster teamwork, communication, and employee engagement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments including engineering, quality, sales, and executive leadership
Financial and Operational Management
  • Manage plant budgets and labor efficiency
  • Control manufacturing costs while maintaining quality standards
  • Support capital equipment planning and upgrades
  • Develop and report operational KPIs to leadership
Qualifications and Certifications
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in twin screw thermoplastic compounding
  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing leadership or plant management roles
  • Strong experience with co-rotating twin screw extruders
  • Deep knowledge of thermoplastics, additives, fillers, reinforcements, and engineered compounds
  • Experience with gravimetric feeders, pelletizing systems, dryers, blenders, and material handling systems
  • Ability to optimize screw design and processing conditions
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and production metrics
  • Proven experience in continuous improvement implementation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Polymer Science, Manufacturing, or related field
  • Experience in engineered thermoplastic compounds
  • Exposure to automotive, medical, industrial, or specialty polymer markets
  • Experience in color matching and formulation development
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing and material characterization
