About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Dayshift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Epic Experience Description: Unit: Stepdown/MedSurg. 29-bed unit currently under construction. All beds will be equipped for stepdown care with an opening in the first quarter of 2026. Ratios for stepdown are 3:1, floor 6:1. Flexible unit serves both floor and step-down patients based on patient and needs. Diverse patient population primarily with medical diagnoses. Candidates should handle 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (stepdown). RNs will receive orders written to titrate drips. Common titratable and set rate drips include heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN. Charge RNs and House Supervisors are available 24/7. Charge RNs will likely take assignments upon unit opening, but the goal is to always run with a free charge RN. Clinical Associates (CAs) will be present on the unit with a desired ratio of 1:10. CPAP and BiPAP equipment will be utilized on the floor and stepdown. HiFlow and vents will be present in stepdown; vent settings adjustments will be directed to ICU. Remote telemetry surveillance center is available for monitoring; RNs are not expected to read their own strips. Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment is utilized. 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling requests considered. Agency RN positions are expected to work every other weekend. Work about half of all recognized holidays. No call or standby requirement. First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units. Scrub color is any combination of royal blue and white. There is a cancellation policy of 2 shifts for a 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks.
