Certified Surgical Technologist

We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our surgical team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care during surgical procedures in a variety of advanced and complex surgeries.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities

• Assist in scrubbing in on surgical procedures under the supervision of a professional nurse.
• Anticipate the surgeon's preferences for specific materials and instruments, adjusting supplies accordingly.
• Set up a sterile table with the necessary instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications for surgical procedures.
• Disassemble and clean instruments and equipment as required, preparing them for terminal sterilization.
• Monitor and assure the sterility of instruments and supplies to maintain quality assurance in patient care.
• Manage the inventory of supplies, placing orders as needed to ensure availability.
• Develop and implement educational programs and materials for the department, including in-service classes and special projects.
• Provide input on potential changes to policies, procedures, and patient care standards to enhance operational efficiency.
• Participate in committees as assigned and provide backup support for emergency cases as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned in line with departmental needs.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of a technologist training program accredited by a recognized agency
• Surgical Technologist Certification (CST)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience Required

A minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, as well as instrumentation and supplies used in surgical settings.
• Understanding of wound healing and potential complications.
• Skills in maintaining sterile technique and positioning patients effectively.
• Ability to handle interventional requests during surgical procedures proficiently.

Shift Information

This position typically operates on a day shift from Tuesday to Friday, with a schedule of 10 hours per day. Emergency and on-call support may be required.
