Production Associate

Start your new career as a Production Associate with MAU at Smithey Ironware in North Charleston, SC. As a Production Associate, you will support cast iron cookware manufacturing by operating machinery and tools, finishing and assembling products, inspecting for quality, packaging orders, and working across production stations to meet daily goals.

What We Offer:

Pay of $19.00 per hour, based on experience
Second shift: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
Full-time schedule, 40 hours per week
Overtime may be available based on business needs
Temp-to-hire opportunity

What We’re Looking For:

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior manufacturing, production, metalworking, or light-industrial experience preferred
Ability to work quickly, safely, and efficiently in a collaborative manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail when machining, finishing, riveting, and assembling products
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions and work independently
Manual dexterity and ability to safely and accurately operate handheld power and pneumatic tools
Comfortable working with machinery and rotating between production stations as priorities change
Metalworking or workshop experience is a plus
Basic computer skills are a plus but not required
Valid driver’s license for occasional parts pickup and local product deliveries or transfers
Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout an 8-hour shift
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull 30–50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
Visual acuity to inspect products, verify documentation, and read labels and records
Comfortable working around machinery, hand and power tools, material-handling equipment, variable temperatures, and typical manufacturing noise
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

What You’ll Do as a Production Associate:

Operate and maintain machinery used to pre-treat and clean cast iron cookware
Season cookware according to Smithey quality standards to achieve an even, consistent finish
Perform vibratory machining, grinding, and product touch-up using handheld power and pneumatic tools
Rivet handles, assemble lids, and complete other small-component assembly tasks with accuracy and consistency
Inspect finished products for quality and identify and label defects for touch-up, return, or disposal
Package finished cookware and organize products for shipment and local distribution
Load and unload trucks and assist with product transfers between facilities as needed
Conduct physical inventory counts throughout the shop and warehouse
Rotate across production stations and assist team members during peak production periods
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including light cleaning and equipment care
Follow Smithey safety policies and OSHA guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe equipment operation
Perform other related duties as required
