About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45-19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Active RN license Certifications: ACLS and BLS required Must-Have: - Stepdown experience - Telemetry experience Description: Primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients. Procedures treated include open heart surgery and thoracic lung surgery. Patients also include overflow medical cardiology patients with various diagnoses. The unit has 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. Staff consists of approximately 100 members including RNs and PCTs. Day and night shifts include charge RNs, RNs, and PCTs. Patient ratios are 1:5 for RNs and 1:13 for PCTs. Equipment used includes IV pumps and epidural pumps. Electronic medical record system is Cerner. Candidates should have prior experience with cardiovascular and vascular surgery populations. Typical procedures include epidural management, chest tube management, and cardiac medication management. Team players who enjoy a fast-paced environment are preferred. Flexibility to work weekends is required, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. No on-call responsibilities are necessary. Candidates should be flexible to work holidays.
