Support Engineer II
This position is responsible for monitoring and supporting mainframe, open systems, and server backup production schedules and workflow processes. The role involves providing troubleshooting support and problem remediation, including escalation to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are maintained. The Support Engineer II will also assist with the deployment of new software to various test and production platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, support, and troubleshoot production schedules and workflow for operating issues.
- Triage problems and take corrective action to ensure availability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure the timely completion of production schedules and control of problems.
- Follow standard operating procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of production schedules, job flows, and service level deadlines.
- Resolve moderately complex problem issues and processing delays.
- Complete checklists and turnover logs for audit compliance.
- Assist with troubleshooting Remote File / Data Transmission delivery issues.
- Analyze recurring problems and make improvement recommendations.
- Assist in maintaining technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Provide daily support to users and programming groups.
Required Qualifications
Education: An undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent work experience of 1-3 years is required.
Experience: Experience with multiple hardware and software technologies is necessary, including Windows, UNIX, MVS, IBM mainframe, and JES2. Must have flexibility to work weekends and holidays in a 24x7 working environment.
Technical Skills:
- IBM Scheduling
- JCL for job restart knowledge
- Mainframe Knowledge
- ROSCOE
- Knowledge of Tape Storage Management (TSM) or other backup software products.
- Working knowledge of an automated mainframe/open system platform scheduling system, preferably IBM Tivoli.
Preferred Qualifications
- Production Control Experience
- Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
- TWS
