Work Environment This position is based in a remote work setting, with regular interactions occurring through telehealth platforms, allowing seamless communication between counselors, clients, and their families. While primarily remote, the role may occasionally involve in-person sessions or collaborative meetings at our Lowell facility. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of elderly clients to identify their specific therapeutic needs and create personalized treatment plans. Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions tailored to address the emotional complexities associated with aging, grief, and significant life transitions. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, contributing to the development of comprehensive care plans that aim to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of geriatric patients. Educate nursing staff and family members on the importance of mental health care for seniors, providing actionable strategies to promote emotional resilience and improve overall quality of life. Administer grief and loss counseling interventions for both clients and their families who are navigating end-of-life challenges. Implement cognitive stimulation programs designed to encourage mental acuity and instill a sense of purpose for elderly individuals. Patient Population / Client Focus Our primary focus is on seniors facing a range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders related to aging. Clients are often dealing with loss, significant life changes, and various age-related issues that require a tailored approach. As part of our compassionate care model, you will work closely with families to ensure they are supported during difficult times. Qualifications A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution. Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential. A minimum of four years of relevant experience, particularly in geriatric counseling and mental health support. Strong theoretical understanding and application of evidence-based interventions and techniques effective for seniors. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, allowing for effective connections with elderly clients to build trust and rapport. Demonstrated empathy and cultural competence to understand and support clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Preferred Experience Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health, age-related therapeutic practices, or similar areas of focus. Proven experience providing mental health services in a similar outpatient setting. Familiarity with telehealth platforms and tools to facilitate remote therapy sessions effectively. Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, new hires may receive a sign-on bonus.
