Senior Accountant

We're working with a growing Chicago-based financial services firm that is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its corporate accounting team. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong accounting foundation who enjoys being a utility player and wants broader exposure than a traditional Senior Accountant role. The majority of the position focuses on general accounting and financial reporting, with additional responsibility across payroll accounting, systems, and data analytics. What You'll Do Own key areas of month-end close, general ledger accounting, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations Prepare and analyze financial reporting while investigating trends and discrepancies Partner with payroll to review and post payroll journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals Support payroll reporting, documentation, audits, and year-end activities Assist with HRIS and people systems, including data integrity and reporting Develop reporting and analytics around key financial and workforce metrics Support annual audits, budgeting, forecasting, and other accounting initiatives Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and automate reporting What They're Looking For 4+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience Strong experience with GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end close Exposure to payroll accounting and payroll-related journal entries/reconciliations Experience with systems such as Dayforce, Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar is a plus Strong Excel and ERP experience CPA preferred, but not required Power BI, Tableau, or SQL experience is a plus Strong analytical skills and an interest in working across multiple areas of accounting and finance The Opportunity Downtown Chicago Monday-Thursday in office / Friday WFH $90,000-$110,000 base + discretionary bonus Strong benefits, including 401(k) match, flexible PTO, parental leave, student loan assistance, and other offerings Brand-new onsite office gym Broad exposure across accounting, payroll, systems, and analytics #J-18808-Ljbffr Connect Search, LLC
