Key Responsibilities Instruct swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly. Models equity, inclusion and cultural competence in developing positive relationships with participants and provides motivations support and guidance. Encourages member and parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers. Conveys basic information regarding aquatic programs schedules. Maintains records as required (ie attendance, progress reports etc.). Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures including emergency and safety procedures. Completed incident and accident reports as necessary. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment. Trains and supervises water safety assistant as necessary. Qualifications Minimum of 15 years of age to assist another instructor; 16 years of age to instruct own class. Certifications: Current state approved first-aid; CPR for the Professional Rescuer; YMCA Swim Instructor certification Demonstrated ability to teach the development of swimming skills and ability to instruct/observe participants in proper stroke technique.
