Travel Radiation Therapist

American Traveler seeks a Radiation Therapist with active Oregon licensure (if applicable) and ARRT R certification for a 13-week hospital assignment in Radiation Oncology.

Job Details

• Hospital-based Radiation Oncology department,
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hour shifts between 6:00 AM and 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday,
• 13-week contract with no call requirements,
• Fast-paced environment treating 70-95 patients daily across three treatment machines,
• Uses Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, Acuity, and GE Lightspeed CT equipment,
• Uses Aria for electronic medical records and chart checks,
• May be required to float to nearby affiliated facility approximately 15 minutes away,

Job Requirements

• ARRT National Radiology license required, license required if applicable,
• Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) state licensure required,
• Current BLS certification,
• Minimum of 1 year Radiation Therapy experience,
• Successful completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program,
• Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge and Aria systems,
• Knowledge of linear accelerator operations including SBRT, SRS, and breath-hold visual management preferred,
• Skilled in beam modifying/positioning, block cutting, CBCT/kV/mV imaging, and treatment plan calculations,
• Ability to safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics and lift/transfer devices,

Additional Information

• Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist,
• Interpret prescriptions and treatment plans, complete patient identification, and maintain audio/visual surveillance during treatment,
• Accurately position and image patients, annotate portal images, and monitor for side effects or unusual reactions,
• Construct immobilization devices and fabricate custom blocks for reproducible patient positioning,
• Perform patient tattooing and safe needle handling practices,
• Participate in daily chart rounds and complete Aria chart checks per department policy,
• Perform weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks with documentation,
• Coordinate simulation scheduling with clinic staff to support continuity of care,
• Up to 8 hours of non-billable orientation modules required prior to start and annually thereafter,
• Former employees of the health system are not eligible for travel assignments until six months after termination date,
• First-time travelers not specifically required based on experience level
